Between spring and fall 2015, the so called Balkan route became the first access road to Western Europe for hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing war or misery. But the road is not easy, and besides sometimes adverse meteorological conditions and the unpreparedness of the poor Balkan states, exiles started to face more and more razor fences as the borders were closing down one after another in a foreseeable domino effect.
